Singer/Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Haley Dreis currently resides in Los Angeles, CA. She is set to release her fourth full-length album ‘Astronaut’ on December 13, 2018, inspired by her experiences touring around the US and Europe.
Dreis grew up in Winston-Salem, NC and began her musical journey at age six studying classical violin. While attending college at University of South Carolina, she began writing and performing her songs at the campus bookstore coffeeshop. Upon releasing her debut album ‘Beautiful to Me’ (2009), Columbia, SC critics favored her as “one of the scene’s brightest voices” (Otis Taylor, The State newspaper) – and the album as “a perfectly realized and surprisingly mature and polished pop gem from the still-young Dreis, who is as promising a pop talent as Columbia’s ever seen” (Patrick Wall, Columbia Free-Times).
In between homework and classes, she toured throughout the Southeast and recorded her second album ’Taking Time’ (2011) with Jay Clifford (of Jump Little Children) and Josh Kaler (of Slow Runner) at Hello Telescope in Charleston, SC. After graduation, she decided to move to Nashville, TN to pursue her music career full-time.
While in Nashville, she recorded and released her third full-length album ‘Lady With A Rocket’ (2012) with Trey Roth at Black Cat Studio. Her album was honored ‘New and Noteworthy’ on iTunes and she was invited to give a TEDx talk demonstrating a live looping performance of the song.
She hit the road to connect with listeners on tour across the US and Europe for several years. On tour, she has performed alongside national acts such as We The Kings, Tonic, Edwin McCain, Toby Lightman, & Chris Barron (of Spin Doctors). She has performed at legendary venues such as the Bitter End (NYC), Eddie’s Attic (Decatur, GA), Bluebird Cafe (Nashville, TN), and as a violinist has performed for artists and awards shows at the Grande Ole Opry. She has collectively fan-funded over $33,000 via Kickstarter to independently release her albums.
In her fourth album ‘Astronaut,’ Dreis takes listeners on a trip around the universe. You’ll travel to Paris, detour to the Middle East, dive into the ocean, and soar up into the stars. Along the way, she’ll show you what she has discovered from her journey thus far – a journey which may be familiar to you, too.
